Summer 2023 Updates!

July 2023

If you walk through the school this time in the summer, you’ll see shipments of textbooks and workbooks coming in, furniture in the hallways, volunteers painting classrooms, our janitorial staff deep cleaning the classrooms, carpets being cleaned, and tile floors being refinished. There’s much to be done in a short amount of time before we welcome students back to school in August!

This coming school year, we're looking forward to continuing some of the programs and activities that were started during the 2022-2023 school year. Our middle school students will participate in an elective class program (sign-ups will be completed at our two Back to School Days in August). Teachers are planning engaging classes, like Life Skills, STEAM, Problem Solving, Recorders, etc. We also hope to continue offering a wide variety of extracurricular/after school activities and a full athletics program, too. We are particularly looking for volleyball coaches for the fall. If you are interested in volunteering for this role, please contact Mr. Rogers at rrogers@immanuelknights.org.

Prior to the start of the 2022-2023 school year, Pastor Richard and a team of teachers developed a school discipleship plan. This plan outlines specific initiatives for us to continue with our mission to "connect students to Christ through engaging faith-based education." We'll look forward to expanding discipleship opportunities for our students and their families this school year.

Every year, the School Ministry office of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, develops a school year theme for Lutheran schools to use. The 2023-2024 school year theme is “Connected” and is based on John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” You’ll see this verse posted around school and incorporated into chapel services, too.

We still have spaces left in some of our classes for the 2023-2024 school year. While our kindergarten and PreK classes are full, there is room available in our 1st-8th grade classes. If you are interested in learning more about Immanuel or scheduling a tour, please contact me at tengel@immanuelknights.org or 815-547-5346.

May God bless you with rest, relaxation, and safe travels this summer!
